Week 2 - Self Evaluation Quizzes
This week, we had the opportunity to undertake several self-evaluation quizzes. I love things like this because they help me better understand myself, and I'm all about self-exploration and expression.
First was the Creative Types test, which was an interesting (and adorable) quiz on the Adobe platform. My result was THE ALCHEMIST, which made perfect sense to me. This creative type is described as someone who seeks to understand the inner workings of all things, first and foremost, themselves. As someone who has done more study on self-development, emotional regulation, mental health and illness than the average person, I can say this description is very accurate. It goes on to say that my life is an endless quest for meaning and a journey of self-exploration. Spot on, again. The next statement that caught my eye said that I have helped others learn to see in the dark and find the gifts in their struggles. As a Counsellor, mentor and friend, I can say this has been a main focus of my life. Lastly, it talks about understanding the cycles of dissolution, transformation and renewal, and that I am not afraid of endings, because I know that true transformation requires confronting what is no longer working in my life, so that something new can take root. I have experienced a lot of loss in my life - family, friends, marriage - and have learnt to come out stronger and in a better position than before. As a Buddhist, I know that a life of self-development and self-awareness is important.
The next quiz was the HIGH 5 Personal Skills test, designed to uncover your top 5 super strengths and transferrable skills. My results were:
1. Empathiser 2. Peace Keeper 3. Believer 4. Philomath (lover of learning) 5. Thinker
Again, none of these were a surprise to me. I know I am empathetic; I like to be the person who mediates difficult situations and keeps the peace; I have strong principles and ethics and although I don't push them onto others and expect others to follow the same path, I do stick to them and will not compromise at the expense of success; I am a lifelong learner and aim to learn something every day; and I enjoy being busyt and exercising my brain and mental functions. I will admit that I am not yet sure how these can be applied or beneficial in my future career, other than being a good people person and being able to easily anticipate and understand the feelings of others. Time will tell, I'm sure.
The next quiz related to exploring our decision-making style. I had to think about this fairly hard, as I was swaying between two styles, but the ANALYTICAL style was closest to how I do things. I am detail-oriented and prefer to gather a lot of information before making a final decision. This makes me confident in my decision, and able to "back up" my choice if questioned by others, but it often results in me overthinking something that should have been simple and procrastinating.
Finally, we had an Emotional Intelligence Test. I haven't always been good at controlling my emotions, but with maturity and life experience, I believe I am better than I've ever been. My result in this quiz confirmed that, with a 73 out of 100, being a High Emotional Intelligence score.
I really found this week interesting and informative. It confirmed that I am on the right track to self-discovery and that makes me proud. I want to continue to grow every day, broaden my knowledge and confidence, and hone my skills.
